Musician Pyeatt Hitchcock
I am an artist and musician from Austin, Texas and currently residing in Los Angeles, Ca.
I have been creating music for more than half my life, as it was the only thing I felt I’ve ever done that was most true to myself. I enjoy riding bicycles, working out, skateboarding or walking around whichever city I reside in at the moment. I have lived all across the United States at this point but was drawn to LA because of the freedom of expression that is present in every walk of life here.

GN: How did you start making music ?

PH: I was an iPad kid, you know that Gen Z cliche about why people in my generation are less educated than the generations before. But instead of playing games and watching videos, I was learning music production through GarageBand and sampling Marvin Gaye records like it was nobody’s business

GN: What is the style of music you most enjoy making?

PH: I would say that my style of music is a combination of the two sounds I heard a lot growing up. With my mom I heard a lot of punk rock, and with my dad, a lot of hiphop. From an early age I remember listening to Blink-182 and OutKast. So the style I enjoy making most would be something I came up with on my own that I call Grunge Gospel

GN: Who are your biggest influences?

PH: I find a lot of inspiration / influence from a lot different kinds of music, but I feel I draw the most inspiration from artists like Tom Delonge of Blink-182, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Robert Smith of The Cure

GN: What does your creative process look like?

PH: A lot of times, I will hear a full arrangement of music in my head, and I will deconstruct that in a DAW note by note until I can accurately create the song I imagined

GN: Do you prefer to work alone, or in a collaborative setting?

PH: I may enjoy a bit of control when it comes to artistry, but in a situation in which I am collaborative, there are ideas introduced in those setting that wouldn’t have existed without another person being present

GN: You like to blend genres, what does genre mean to you?

PH: I feel like genres are just a basic , catch-all label that can narrow down who may enjoy your music in certain situations. Genres have begun to melt together and become more obsolete as the internet has progressed

GN: Are there any ways you like to prepare to create music?

PH: A lot of times, I kinda just sit at a keyboard or a guitar and look for a specific sound that I’m feeling in the moment, and then I carry on to writing something musical that’s catchy

GN: How does music influence you in your day to day life?

PH: I like to think that I feel music as moods, and see music as colors. I like to workout first thing in the morning, and the music that I listen to while I’m working out will influence the colors that I wear that day
