LEGENDS OF SOUND
Q&A:
In Conversation with Alessandro DeNino, Founder of Legends of Sound
GN: Legends of Sound is a name that immediately suggests heritage and reverence. What is the origin of the project, and what problem were you trying to solve when you founded it?
AD:Legends of Sound began with a simple but unsettling realization: some of the greatest creative minds in human history, composers who shaped culture itself were being reduced to background noise. Classical music had become something people “put on” rather than something they connected with. I wanted to restore dignity, narrative, and presence to that legacy. Legends of Sound exists to reframe classical composers not as relics, but as living influences, visionaries whose work still speaks to identity, emotion, and craftsmanship today.
GN: You often speak about legacy. What does that word mean to you personally?
AD: Legacy, to me, is not about longevity, it's about intention. It’s the residue of values left behind after trends fade. I’m interested in the kind of legacy that is felt quietly: in how something is made, in the care taken with detail, in the respect shown to history. Legends of Sound isn’t about nostalgia; it’s about stewardship carrying something forward responsibly and allowing it to evolve without being diluted.
GN: Your work blends music, design, education, and commerce. How do these elements coexist without competing?
AD: They coexist because they share the same foundation: storytelling. Music tells stories. Design translates them visually. Education contextualizes them. Commerce sustains them. When all four are aligned, none of them feel transactional. The danger is when one leads without respect for the others. Legends of Sound is built so that education never feels preachy, design never feels decorative, and commerce never feels exploitative.
GN: Classical music can feel intimidating to many. How do you make it accessible without oversimplifying it?
AD: By trusting the audience. Accessibility doesn’t mean dilution; it means clarity. People don’t need classical music to be “modernized”, they need permission to approach it on their own terms. When you remove the gatekeeping language and restore the human stories behind the compositions, curiosity naturally follows. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, they were innovators, risk-takers, and sometimes rebels. Once people see that, the intimidation dissolves.
GN: Your merchandise collections feel unusually thoughtful for a retail experience. Why was that important?
AD: Because objects carry meaning. If you’re going to place a name like Bach or Mozart on something someone wears or lives with, it should feel intentional, not decorative. Each collection is treated like a curated exhibition, color palettes, typography, symbolism, even fabric choices are considered extensions of the composer’s world. It’s not merch; it’s wearable storytelling.
GN: You founded Legends of Sound as an independent creator. What were the biggest challenges early on?
AD: Resisting shortcuts. There’s constant pressure to move faster, simplify, or follow proven formulas. But speed without coherence creates noise. The challenge was staying patient enough to build something layered and honest, even when that meant slower growth. Independence gives you freedom, but it also demands discipline.
GN: Your background spans multiple creative disciplines. How did that shape the brand?
AD: It taught me that excellence is transferable. Whether you’re producing music, designing garments, or building a brand, the same principles apply: precision, restraint, and respect for the craft. Legends of Sound is the synthesis of those disciplines a place where sound, form, and meaning intersect.
GN: Many creators talk about “community,” but few build one authentically. How do you define community?
AD: Community isn’t scale, its alignment. It’s not about how many people follow you, but how many recognize themselves in what you’re building. Legends of Sound attracts people who care about depth, heritage, and intentional living. That shared sensibility is the community.
GN: What does success look like for Legends of Sound in the long term?
AD: Success, for Legends of Sound, means remaining in motion. It’s not only about preserving and re-introducing the lives, biographies, and recordings of the great classical composers, it's about continuing to innovate across every expression of the brand. We want to push forward on the fashion and gifts side with the same seriousness we bring to music: creating sustainable, organic, and recycled pieces alongside refined, high-fashion apparel and objects that feel intentional and collectible.
At its core, Legends of Sound is about art you can wear. That philosophy extends beyond our own designs to curated, limited-edition collections of rare and distinctive fashion pieces from major luxury houses, objects chosen for their craftsmanship, design language, and cultural relevance. These pieces may reference classical design and music, but they are not confined by them.
If the brand continues to evolve without losing its soul, bridging heritage with modern expression, sustainability with luxury, and education with beauty, then we’re doing something right. True success is continuity through innovation, and allowing the brand to grow far beyond me while remaining deeply rooted in its values.
GN: As a founder, how do you balance ambition with restraint?
AD: By remembering that not everything needs to be said at once. Silence, space, and pacing are forms of confidence. The most enduring work leaves room for interpretation and growth. I’d rather build slowly and precisely than loudly and forgettably.
GN: Finally, Goodnight is a word rooted in endings, reflection, and rest. What does Goodnight mean to you?
AD: Goodnight, to me, is not an ending, it’s a pause with intention. It’s the moment where you step back from the noise, reflect on what matters, and prepare for what comes next. It’s gratitude without closure. In that sense, Goodnight is deeply creative, it’s where ideas settle, mature, and wait to be carried forward.
And that, ultimately, is what Legends of Sound is about.
