EOIN MACKEN

Q&A
GN: Congratulations with all the great success on your new show Ransom Canyon. Could you share a long lasting memory from being on set?
EM: Thank you, it was such a blast working on this show, so it’s great that people have responded to it so well. I think standing on the edge of the cliff, looking out over the vast valley outside of Santa Fe alongside Josh, as our characters drank fake whiskey with a massive crane swinging around us, and when we spotted an escaped cow in the distance just wandering the landscape without a care in the world and it all just felt both epic and peaceful as once.
GN: What do you have in common with your character Davis Collins?
EM: Oh man, well hopefully only the good parts! Davis is a complicated man, he adores his son but is very hard on him because he thinks it’s the only way to keep him tough, and he is very single minded. I think we share his determination and drive, and perhaps a little bit of his charm because despite it all Davis has a good ole charming side.
GN: Is there anything you can share that Ransom Canyon viewers would already know?
EM: I can tell them that if they haven’t watched it yet that there are in for a hell of an emotional ride!
GN: Is there something special that you experienced on this project that you have not acting the past?
EM: Actually yes - I loved working with April and Amanda, who really love about the show and it comes across in their care for everyone. They left no stone unturned in their search for the honesty in the characters journeys and it was a privilege to be a part of that.
GN: If you could pick any other genre that you would like to be part of next, what would that be?
EM: It’s been a while since I’ve done some sci-fi but actually a romantic comedy I think I’m in the mood for (that’s a hint).
GN: Tell us a little bit about your homeland.
EM: It’s Ireland. It’s the place I feel at peace in, when Ireland is sunny it’s the most magical place on the planet, and when it’s grey and raining it can be tough and the Irish people’s mood changes with the weather! It’s as you expect, full of music, stories, adventure and green hills - usually being rained upon!
GN: What does the phrase Goodnight mean to you?
EM: I’m going to immediately think of the George Clooney Broadway play because I just saw it, as my buddy from The Nightshift and Grey Elephant, Mac Brandt is co-starring in it and he’s superb. I loved the play and that phrase makes me think of that. I guess it’s always what I say to my daughter before she sleeps so it’s got a very peaceful connotation.
