ARIANNA RIVAS

Q&A

GN: Tell us about your new movie A Working Man. Who do you play?

AR: A Working Man is about survival, loyalty, and the hidden strength people carry in quiet ways. I play Jenny—a fiercely capable woman trying to keep everything together for the people she loves. She’s smart, protective, and constantly walking the line between vulnerability and power.

GN: Tell us about the rest of your cast—it’s a pretty stacked ensemble: Jason Statham, Michael Peña, David Harbour, Noemí Gonzalez…

AR: It still doesn’t feel real. Each one of them brought such authenticity and intensity to the set. Jason’s laser focus, Michael’s warmth, David’s depth, and Noemí’s grounded strength—it was inspiring just to watch them work. I learned so much just being in their orbit.

GN: What was it like working with director David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch, The Beekeeper)?

AR: David is a force. He leads with truth and expects the same from you. There’s no pretending on his sets—you show up raw and real, or not at all. That kind of environment pulls something out of you as an actor that you didn’t know was there.

GN: How did you get into acting? Did you always know you wanted to do this?

AR: I’ve always been drawn to understanding how things work—especially people and relationships. I was a pretty shy kid, so I spent a lot of time observing and creating little stories in my head. Eventually, I made the decision to really go for it. I moved to L.A., joined classes, and just started learning.

GN: If you weren’t doing this as a career, what would you be doing?

AR: I’d definitely work with animals. I had a dog walking and pet sitting business in the past so I’d probably go back to doing that!

GN: You are also in Black Phone 2—what can fans of the first one look forward to with this one?

AR: This one goes even deeper. The horror is still there, but so is the humanity. It’s darker, more emotionally charged, and it pushes the story into unexpected territory. I think fans will be surprised—in the best way.

GN: Tell us about your perfect weekend.

AR: Traveling somewhere in nature with close friends—maybe a cabin in the mountains or a quiet beach spot. Music playing, long hikes, deep talks, food… and no real plans.

GN: How would you describe your style?

AR: Relaxed but thoughtful. I love clothing that feels effortless but say something. I’m a sucker for well-worn boots and vintage tees.

GN: The magazine is called Goodnight… What is your version of a “good night”?

AR: A good night for me is slow and grounding. Comfy clothes, piano in the background, clean room, and bestie on the phone for our nightly yap session!
